Tim Honored in Washington DC by National Geographic! (17/11/07)

Tim, Will Steger, Colin AngusTIM BEING PRESENTED AWARD

On the 15th of November Tim was flown to Washington DC where he was honoured by National Geographic at the second annual Adventurer of the Year awards. Tim's achievement was recognized as: "Cultural Ambassador who traced the journeys of Ghengis Khan 6,200 miles across Mongolia to Hungary."

Tim is the first person in modern times to travel from Mongolia to Hungary by horse in the footsteps of Eurasian nomads who were best showcased by the Mongols under Ghengis Khan.

At the event Tim met with other adventurers being honoured such as Will Steger (the legendary American who made the first unsupported dog sled journey to the north pole in 1986), Borge Ausland (one of the greatest living polar explorers), cave divers Steve Bogaerts and Robbi Schmittner, and emerging young adventurers such as Andrew Skurka, Trip Jennings, and Sarah and Eric McNair-Landry.

Tim was also lucky to meet with old friend, and Nat Geo Adventurer of the Year 2006 'Colin Angus' and his wife Julie Wafei from Canada.

Tim will now return to London, and finally touch home soil in Australia in the beginning of December.
